Yes, the Senda del Oso is an easy day trip from Oviedo. You reach Entrago in 40 minutes by car, pick up the bike, ride the 18 km greenway down to Buyera, and we bring you back to Entrago with our transfer: no pedalling back. You still have the afternoon for lunch in Teverga and the Bear House on the way home. Here is the hour-by-hour plan, with real timings.

From Oviedo to Entrago: 40 minutes

By car it is 48 km, about 40 minutes on the motorway and then the valley road, passing through Trubia and Proaza. You leave the car in Entrago, where our shop and the start point are, and you do not move it all day. If you would rather not drive, you can also come by local bus in 55 minutes; all the options are detailed in how to get to the Senda del Oso.

The hour-by-hour plan

09:00 · Leave Oviedo by car, with plenty of time and no rush.

09:45 · Arrive in Entrago. Park next to the shop. This is where your day starts and ends.

10:00 · Pick up the bike. No advance payment: helmet, map, insurance and roadside assistance included. We explain the route in five minutes.

10:15 · Start the descent to Buyera. It is 18 km downhill and traffic-free, around 2:30 h at an easy pace with stops. You pass Caranga de Abajo (km 9) and Proaza (km 15), the only large village on the way, with lit tunnels and gorges along the route.

12:45 · Arrive in Buyera. The bear enclosure is 800 m away, home to Paca and Tola in the past and to Molina today. A good spot to stretch your legs.

13:15 · Transfer back to Entrago. You call us and we pick you up in Buyera with the bike. You return in the van, not on the pedals.

13:45 · Collect the car in Entrago and head off to lunch.

14:00 · Lunch in La Plaza (Teverga), 5 minutes away: cider houses and an Asturian set menu.

16:00 · Head back towards Oviedo with a stop in Proaza to visit the Bear House, the brown bear interpretation centre. It is right on the way home.

17:30 · Back in Oviedo. A full day, unhurried and with no complicated logistics.

With kids or on an e-bike

The route is flat and family-friendly, so the plan works just as well with children: we rent kids’ bikes (€25), baby seats, trailers and tag-alongs. And if your group has mixed fitness levels, electric bikes (€50) even out the pace so nobody falls behind.

Where to eat

The easiest option is to eat when you finish, in Teverga (La Plaza) or Proaza, both with cider houses and Asturian cooking. You will find the specific recommendations in where to eat on the Senda del Oso.

What the day costs

The adult bike is €28 (electric €50, kids’ €25) with the return transfer already included. Add lunch (€15-20) and fuel, and you have a full day for very little. Book your bike with no advance payment and free cancellation up to 24 hours before; you only pay when you pick up in Entrago. To see the full fleet and prices, go to bike rental.

Our tips

“Book ahead in season.” In summer and on long weekends the bikes go fast. If the car drops you in Entrago at 10:00 and there are no bikes left, you have lost the day. Booking is free and cancels at no cost.

“Leave Oviedo early.” The first departure is at 09:30 and bike pick-up closes at 14:30. Setting off early means you ride in daylight, eat in peace, and have time for the Bear House on the way back. The whole plan fits into a long morning and a relaxed lunch.
